David is a native New Yorker first US-born child of Afro-Colombian migrants. He currently calls Orlando, Florida home. He believes deeply in the power of mass engagement and people’s movements to change the material conditions of oppressed people. David is in constant practice of aligning his actions with his values. He leads with curiosity and grace for himself and others when building relationships and organizing. His approach to organizing is informed by his seven years leading a youth power building organization, the Florida Student Power Network, Black organizing traditions, and ten years of engaging in electoral politics and government. It is also informed by the joy he gets from life and spending time with his partner Hannah and their pitbull Jane Bella.
